The ZOOM Erlebniswelt - a journey around the world in the heart of the Ruhr region. On an area of more than 30 hectares, a zoo has been created that is unique in Germany. At the site of the historic Ruhr Zoo, landscape architects, under the project management of GBM-Essen, seized the opportunity to implement one of the most extensive zoo redesign projects in Europe. Taking into account a number of listed buildings, something completely new was created: A consistently nature-oriented living environment, implemented in dozens of sub-projects, in which around 900 animals in over 100 species initially find an almost natural home.
