Background

Following the fire disaster in 1996, Düsseldorf Airport underwent extensive new construction and conversion measures to increase its handling capacity to 22 million passengers per year. As part of the "Airport 2000 Plus" project, the company Imtech (ROM) was commissioned to carry out the technical building services for Halls B and C, including project management. The airport expansion project took six years to complete. As part of the "Düsseldorf Airport 2000 plus" conversion, the existing airport was completely redesigned and fitted with new technical equipment. GBM-Essen took on various tasks, including the development of a project structure according to process phases, coordination of the technical participants, regulation of responsibilities, development and structuring of planning processes, as well as the regulation and management of reporting, deadline controlling, development of countermeasures and documentation of external influences on planning and execution.
